Readers may recall, that prior to the United Grand Lodge of Victoria (est 1889), there was a Grand Lodge of Victoria (est 1883 and absorbed into UGLV in 1889). David Munro. He was Grand Master of that Grand Lodge, 1888-89
MWBro David Munro first saw Masonic Light in the Lodge of " Judah, No. 380 S.C. " (later Victorian, Lodge, V.C.) When in 1883 the Grand Lodge of Victoria was founded, Bro. Munro refused office, preferring to render all the assistance he could to the craft in a cadet and unostentatious manner. Upon the formation of the Lodge Caledonian, 18, V.C., Bro. Munro was appointed W.M., and at the following annual communication of Grand Lodge, he was unanimously elected as Senior Grand Warden. Bro. Munro's Masonic popularity was further increased by his gift of the furniture and appointments to the Caledonian Lodge. His appointment as M.W.G.M. in 1888 was a most popular one amongst the craft. Bro. Munro also held the position of Most Eminent and Supreme Grand Master of the Sovereign Great Priory of Victoria, which was instituted in 1887, Grand Treasurer-General of the Supreme Grand Council 33rd degree for Australia; and Sublime 95th degree of the Sovereign Sanctuary of the A. A. and Primitive Rite of Memphis in and for Victoria.
